You can delete your data, take a break, or close your account at any time. You do not need to give a reason and there is no charge.
Note: Waivers are not deleted for legal reasons.
How to do it
- Log in (with your password, or with the Google, Facebook or Apple button you normally use).
- Go to your profile, then Settings > Delete Account.
- Choose what you want to do, and confirm.
If you cannot log in, email us at slh_mailer@sleeplateandhike.com from the address on your account and we will do it for you within 30 days.
Your choices
- Delete some of your data and stay a member. your emergency contacts; your car and carpool details (car, plate, pickup addresses); your saved lists, favorites and requests; your event pictures; your reviews and their photos. Deleted straight away.
- Take a break. Deactivate your account: you are logged out and hidden from other members, nothing is deleted, and logging in brings it all back.
- Close your account. You decide, for your reviews, your event pictures and your forum posts, whether each is deleted or left without your name. You can also ask for your tickets to upcoming events to be cancelled, and for your name and contact details to be removed from your order records. Your account is hidden when you confirm and deleted 30 days later; logging in during those 30 days cancels the closure.
Note: Waivers are not deleted for legal reasons.
Deleted with your account, in every case
- Your account, username, email address, password and profile, including your profile picture and cover image.
- Your private messages, friendships, group memberships, notifications and activity.
- Your saved lists, favorites and requests; your car, carpool and pickup details; your emergency contacts and other forms you filled in.
- Tags of you in other members' pictures, your comments on pictures, and your name on event attendee lists.
- Saved payment methods, and the link to your Google, Facebook or Apple sign-in.
Kept, and why
- Signed waivers. Waivers are not deleted for legal reasons. A waiver is the legal record of an event you attended.
- Orders and payments. Records of tickets and purchases are kept for tax and accounting, no longer attached to an account. You can ask for your name and contact details to be removed from them.
- Moderation records. If an organizer removed something you posted, the private note of that decision is kept.
- Adventures and event pages you created as an organizer. They belong to the group and stay, without your account.
- Backups. Copies of the site made before your account was deleted expire on their own schedule.
Tickets to upcoming events
When you close your account you can ask the organizers to cancel your tickets to upcoming events. Ticket cancellation is still subject to the cancellation policy in effect for the event. Deleting an account does not delete tickets if the cancellation policy does not allow it.
If you signed in with Google, Facebook or Apple
Deleting your account here deletes everything we received from them (your name, email address and the ID that links the two accounts). To also remove this site from your Google, Facebook or Apple account, use that account's own "apps and websites" or "Sign in with Apple" settings.
